2008 Chill DJ Beatdaddy

REAL BAD Chill DJ Beatdaddy is Bill Hutchcroft of San Francisco, California. Long before iTunes playlists turned everyone into a mix-master, Bill began his DJ career by compiling mix tapes for friends. He soon discovered his love of entertaining people with music. “In the '90s, I had a disco room in my home,” recalls Bill, “and after a night of clubbing, I’d invite people over, and we’d wind down the night as I played chill.”
In 2000, Bill landed his dream job in Washington, D.C., as a product manager for Tower Records. That job exposed him to a whole new world of sounds. “I had always wanted to run a record store,” says Bill. “All of a sudden, I was surrounded by all this incredible music. My mixes got better, and my distribution list grew longer.” The popularity of his mixes led to regular gigs on the pioneering chill radio station Blu 102 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and on XM Satellite Radio.
Bill was selected as the very first chill DJ at REAL BAD in 2006 — for REAL BAD XVIII. Since then, Bill has played the Sunday night chill show on the San Francisco dance music radio station Energy 92.7. This past July, Bill appeared as the opening DJ for the Up Your Alley Street Fair in San Francisco. He will also have the honor of playing the opening set for the twenty-fifth annual Folsom Street Fair. After the street fair, he will take to the decks at REAL BAD XX. He will be spinning in the chill space located in “The Vault,” on the lower level of 1015 Folsom.
